Canadian Digital Service.
"Where there's a need there's a way"
Canadian Digital Service is a company that
was born from a need that the Canadian citizens had when it came to the
governmental services offered to them. It was created “to accelerate efforts”
in the responsibility to deliver world-class services as “we make the switch,
both technically and culturally, to agile digital delivery models”.
The Canadian Digital Service comes from
experienced individuals that wish to enhance the services offered and really make
a positive change in the community. They have partnered up with many different federal
departments and they have made significant changes to the way the services are
offered, since the world has been changing to a digital world the need to
change everything around us to cover the digital age has become more and more
noticeable to users.
The company is not necessarily clear about
where in Canada they have locations, but since they work with the government it is understandable that they have different locations. They team up with federal
departments and agencies that will put people's needs at the centre of the
services the government offers.
As of right now, they have around 70
workers and the partnerships with several federal departments for design
services.
Founder:
Aaron Snow in 2017.
The Canadian Digital Service is a creative and innovative work
environment, the workers there are very much focused on their goals and what
they need to accomplish, managing their time and being organized it's a huge
part of the job, being discreet, resourceful and being able to work in groups
with many different people is a huge part of working in the Canadian Digital
Service.
Learning and foster the best practices,
Design, test and build simple and easy to use services to improve the experience that the users will have.
CDS connects with the federal government to
share progress via public platforms.
Values & Ethics:
- Passionate.
- Accessibility.
- Multidisciplinary teams.
- Organization.
It is not clear if there are ways
of growing inside the company or what benefits it might have, but since it is a
part of the government it should have good benefits and opportunities for its
workers to expand their knowledge and increase their value as workers.
One of the reasons why working on this
company is such a huge goal for me is that fact that it worries about what the
users need, and how they can deliver it in the easiest way possible to
understand, it also might be one of the best resources the Canadian government
might have especially when it comes to fighting crime and what can it achieve
as a "helpful-hand" and there are so many possibilities where it can
go and grow. It's a project and a part of the government that can accomplish so
much, and by the way, they talk about it and the work they do you can truly see
how passionate they are about helping users, being honest and truly improve
what the government can do for its people.
The Canadian Digital Service has also partnered
with the Canadian Mounted Police in cybercrime, making it easier for victims of
cybercrime to report on and know what they should do next. Thinking about it
from a security point, this service and this partnership can be taken into a lot
of “branches” for crime, and it becomes one of the most fascinating aspects of
what the CDS can do, and with what it can do to help user, meaning the partners
and citizens alike, to be an auxiliary
to solving crimes, not they are necessarily involved in solving the crimes, but
they can be one of the entry points for victims and Detectives and Police. This
is one of the many reasons why this company is such an amazing place to work
and expand in, since it can have so many different jobs, depending on the
partner they are working with and depending on the project they are working on
at the moment.
